Your profile and privacy controls
What other people can see about you, how to limit who views your profile, and what Herix collects.
Herix is a publishing community, so some things are public by design. You control a good deal of the rest.
What others can see
Depending on your settings, other people may see your username, display name, profile information, published stories and their descriptions, comments, ratings, and favorites. You never have to use your real name: pen names and anonymous identities are welcome.
Limiting who sees your profile
Go to Settings → Privacy → Privacy and set Profile visibility to one of:
- Everyone: anyone, signed in or not.
- Herix Users: only people signed in to Herix.
- Followers only: only people who follow you.
Your avatar, username, and display name stay visible even on a restricted profile, and stories you publish publicly remain readable. On the same page, turn off Allow users to find me by my username to keep your profile out of username lookups. Writers also get controls there for comments, public statistics, and whether their novels appear in search, recommendations, and features.
Protecting your account
Turn on two-factor authentication under Settings → Privacy → Security. After that, signing in needs a code from your authenticator app as well as your password.
What Herix collects
The information you give us (email, username, date of birth, profile details, your writing, comments, ratings, and anything you send staff), plus technical information such as IP address, device and browser, pages visited, and session details used to run and secure the site. Your date of birth is used to enforce the minimum age of 13.
What we do not do
- Herix does not sell your personal information.
- Herix does not use advertising cookies or your data for targeted ads.
Google Analytics runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and you can change that any time from Cookie Preferences in the footer. Supabase, Vercel, Cloudflare, Resend, and OpenAI (which checks uploaded images) run parts of the service and process data only to provide it. Choose which activity emails you get under Settings → Account → Email & Notifications.
