Using AI on Herix
Which AI tools are fine for writers, what counts as AI-generated fiction, and what happens if it is found.
Herix is built around human-written fiction. AI can help you write, but it cannot write for you. The words that make up your story must be your own.
Allowed
- Grammar and spelling assistants
- AI-assisted editing of prose you wrote
- Brainstorming and idea generation
- Research tools
- Translation tools (see below)
You do not need to disclose that you used any of these.
Not allowed
- Using generative AI to write chapters, scenes, passages, or other substantial parts of a story.
- AI-generated artwork for story covers or for images used inside stories.
AI-generated artwork that is discovered may be removed from the platform. Upload only covers and images you made yourself or have the rights to use.
Translated stories
AI-assisted translation of your own work is permitted. Say in the story's description that it was translated with AI, and name the language it was originally written in. You remain responsible for the translated text and should make sure it represents your original work accurately.
If a story is flagged
Herix staff may review a story when there is reason to believe generative AI wrote its content. If a writer is found to have knowingly submitted AI-generated fiction:
- 01First offense. A warning.
- 02Second offense. A one-week suspension.
- 03Third offense. Permanent removal from the Herix writing program.
Permanent removal can also end participation in a Herix Studios Partner Program agreement. Severe or repeated cases may be handled more strictly. If you think a decision was wrong, see Moderation, suspensions, and appeals.
