Deleting your account and your data
How to delete your account, what is removed and what may remain, and how to make a privacy request.
Deleting your account
- Go to Settings → Privacy → Security.
- Scroll to Delete account and follow the confirmation steps.
Deletion is permanent
Your account, stories, chapters, comments, ratings, reviews, posts, and profile are removed from the active platform. It cannot be undone, so download your data first (the Download my data button on the same page) and keep a copy of anything you want.
What may remain for a while
- Backups: copies can persist until those backups expire or are overwritten.
- Moderation and security records: kept where needed for safety, enforcement, or the law, including records about suspended accounts.
- Copies made by others: deletion cannot reach text someone already quoted, archived, or reproduced elsewhere.
Deleting a single story
Deleting a story from your dashboard removes it, its volumes, and its chapters permanently. It cannot be restored, so unpublish it instead if you only want to take it down for a while. Stories in an active Herix Studios Partner Program agreement cannot be removed independently while the agreement runs.
Writer applications
Application details and writing samples are visible only to Herix staff. They stay with your account so you can reapply after a rejection, and are deleted with your account. To have the copy emailed to staff deleted as well, make a privacy request.
Making a privacy request
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information, to opt out of some processing, and to appeal a privacy decision. Florida residents may have additional rights under state law.
Email [email protected] with what you are asking for. We may need to confirm the request comes from the account holder before acting on it, and will respond within the time the law requires. Appeals go to the same address.
Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has an account can contact us at [email protected]. Accounts belonging to someone under 13 are suspended and their information deleted.
